Tennis Masters keeps the caricatured heads and the two-key controls but puts a net between the players, and that changes everything. There is no scrambling for a loose ball — the rally is turn-based in practice, and every shot is a decision about where the other player is not.

It opens on a character select — a Friendly Match screen pairing two players by country — before you start.

Winning rallies

• Move the opponent. Two shots to the same corner and a third to the other one wins more points than any amount of power.
• Return to the middle after every shot. The engine rewards court position more than reaction speed.
• Take pace off the ball when the opponent is out of position — a soft return they have to run to beats a hard one they can block.

Why it plays differently from the football games

Because the ball is never contested. In Football Legends the fight is over possession; here possession alternates by rule, so the whole game is about placement.

It is the one in this family that rewards patience, and the one people underestimate.
